‘Over 1,37,000 people were killed in road accidents in 2013 alone, that is more than the number of people killed in all our wars put together.’
‘One serious road accident in the country occurs every minute and 16 die on Indian roads every hour.’
These are some mind boggling stats that are enough to prove the devastating conditions of the Indian roads, especially highways. Due to the advancements in recent technology, cars do have upgraded suspensions, efficient brakes and air-bags, as a preventive measure in case of emergencies. But, we do not have a single unitary system that can monitor and predict an accident before it happens. With the use of Artificial Intelligence, it is possible to predict the presence of potholes, distinguishing traffic signs and detecting if the driver is asleep, using Neural Networks and  Image Processing techniques. The project undertaken would be a radical step in revolutionizing the way we deal with prevention of deadly accidents with the help of Technology
